Astrology Twins

With all the recent controversy about astrology, its nice to think back to some positive astrology stories which hit the headlines and promoted the accuracy of our art. I predicted that astrology would benefit under the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction and that we would see it advance and further interest would spread. It certainly hit the media and has received some free advertising, but not the kind we had been hoping would come. I should learn not to be so optimistic with astrology's advancement in the modern world. The following quote is from A Manual of Astrology by Raphael, and although one lived a life of royalty and the other an ordinary life, it shows how the horoscope plays out in both realities, even if two people are born in a different class.

In the Newspapers of February 1820, the death of MR Samuel Hemmings was noticed.   It was stated that he had been an ironmonger and prosperous in trade - that he was born on the 4th of June 1738, at nearly the same moment as his majesty George the III. and in the same parish of St. Martin's in the fields; - that he went into business for himself on October 1760; when his late Majesty came to the throne, that he married (the 8th September 1761,) the same day as the king; and finally after other events of his life has resembled those which happened to the late king; that he dies on Saturday, January 29th 1820, on the same day, and nearly the same hour as his late majesty!

After such an authenticated and luminous instance as the foregoing, where the lives of two individuals born at the same moment, corresponded in every remarkable particular, even in life and death; can the Astrologer be accused of superstition or absurdity, should he pronounce the fates of mankind to be subject to planetary influence? Or can any rational mind, upon nature and sober reflection, attribute the foregoing most pointed agreement in their destinies - to mere chance?

Weather Records

I thought it would be interesting to observe the different weather phenomenon and disasters, astrologically. I recently looked at the coldest day on record, which showed an exact Sun square Saturn contact, and the freezing temperature in Antarctica, dropped to -89.2 C. The quality of Saturn is slow, heavy, cold and dull. The fastest temperature drop appeared when the Sun in Capricorn formed a wide square to Saturn in Aries at the 29th degree. The hottest day on earth was recorded in Africa when the temperature soared to 136 F on the 13th of September 1922. Astrologically there was a wide Sun square Mars contact, Mars rules all forms of heat and rise in temperature. Mars had reached the 29th degree in fiery Sagittarius, but the results are questionable, due to the surface that the machine was built on and previous faulty readings. The fastest temperature rise occurred in Spearfish, South Dakota, and there was another, Sun square Mars contact.

The fastest rainfall in one minute occurred when Mars (speed) was bang in the middle of Pisces (heavy showers). The Sun was in Cancer trine to Mars in Pisces, so perhaps the water sign element of the trine influenced the heavy rainfall. I am noticing a strong connection with the Sun and strange weather phenomenon. The most rainfall in 60 minutes was taken in Holt, Missouri, United States, on the 22nd of June, 1947. Astrologically the Sun was in cancer (water) square Neptune (heavy rainfall). During a tropical cyclone, the most rain that fell in 24 hours reached 71.9 inches. The astrological weather doesn’t appear to be significant; there is a Sun in Capricorn sextile Saturn in Pisces contact. However, the Sun was in trine to the Uranus-Pluto conjunction in Virgo. Actually the more I think about it, the Uranus-Pluto conjunction does describe extreme turbulence, and powerful (Pluto) winds (Uranus). I would consider Uranus to be connected with thunderstorms, and I have covered lighting attacks previously on the blog and found this to be the case. Of course there are probably cyclones occuring without this aspect present.

The fastest ever wind speed reached over 300 mph and happened in Oklahoma City. The Sun was conjunct Saturn in Taurus (slow). However, the Sun was also square Uranus in Aquarius (wind). I am assuming the wind speed picked up dramatically, due to Uranus in Aquarius (Sky-God) forming a sextile to the Mercury-Jupiter conjunction in Aries (increased (Jup) speed (Aries)! The thinkers born during this time must process their thoughts at a super, lightning fast speed and would make quick and ingenious observations, and they would still be fairly young at this point. Mercury is also the fastest planet around the Sun. The deadliest tornado happened on the 26th of April, 1989. The Sun in Taurus was opposite Pluto in Scorpio, and trine Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune in Capricorn. Another Sun-Uranus-Pluto contact was in operation at this time, and it killed 1300 people in Bangladesh. Also in Bangladesh the heaviest hailstone fell, weighing 2.25 lb. The Sun in Aries trines Uranus in Sagittarius, but what I feel may also signify this type of freaky weather, is the Mars-Neptune conjunction in Capricorn (frozen water) sextile Jupiter in Pisces (increase in size). The longest lightning bolt that was ever recorded reached a lengthy 118 miles. A grand air trine occurred between Sun in Libra, Saturn in Gemini, and Uranus in Aquarius. As stated earlier, I would associate Uranus with lighting strikes. This type of study needs the correct birth times of various countries, but through assessing the elements and significant aspects, especially to the Sun, it is a fruitful study. The weather changes all the time, and I believe it is only most useful to attempt these type of studies, under extreme conditions. We also always extremely limited by lack of valid data, which may have helped to refine the results. Still, I thought it was interesting enough to explore, and found the results useful. It doesn’t mean I could apply them to future weather conditions, but worth observing and sharing.

Here is a list of the essential natures of the signs: A Manual of Astrology by Raphael

Uranus - in nature cold, dry and windy
Saturn - Cold and dry
Jupiter - Hot and moist
Mars - Hot and Dry
Venus - Cold and moist

First Test-Tube Baby Born

uranus in scorpio AND TEST TUBE BABY
Uranus in Scorpio breakthrough

On July 25, 1978, Louise Brown, the world’s first test tube baby’, was born in the U.K. Her mother, Lesley Brown , had been unable to conceive because of blocked fallopian tubes and had undergone experimental fertility treatment to become pregnant. Their method involved removing eggs from a woman’s ovary, fertilizing them with sperm in a glass (in vitro), and replanting them in the womb. However, until Lesley Browns success, none of the 80 women who had trialed the method had been able to stay pregnant beyond a few weeks.

On November, 10, 1977, Lesley Brown underwent treatment. She became the first woman to undergo a healthy pregnancy, and nine days before her due date, her daughter was delivered by cesarean section. Louise Brown was perfectly healthy and went on to have a child of her own. The success of the process gave hope to millions of couples unable to conceive. For some it also raised ethical issues. The main concern was whether the disposal of fertilized eggs, which is common practice in the process of intro fertilization (I.V.F), is in effect disposing of human lives, if life can be counted as having started at the point of fertilization. There were also concerns at the time as to how this power to create life might be used in the future, by pre-selecting the gender or features of a child and disposing of fertilized eggs that do not meet these criteria. Uranus’ transit through Scorpio signifies world events surrounding the issues of sex, life, death, resources, occult matters and psychology. Uranus rules futuristic developments, progress and scientific methods. Previously stagnated areas are more progressive and forward moving than ever before! Uranus carries the Promethean vision of a new world and heralds all breakthroughs in Science, technology, social and political structures, and this sometimes involves violent shake-ups of society. The goal is upon improving the quality of our lives and creating “equal opportunities” for all. Those born with the inability to conceive a child, now have a better chance with the intervention of science.

Theodore Maiman: Laser Man

jupiter conjunct uranus

I thought I would write about some Scientific topics for the evolving Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Aries. I will take a look at inventors, Scientists and astrologers because it still falls under the umbrella of Uranus.

Theodore Maiman, was a physicist who patented the first operable laser, his father was an electronics engineer who strongly believed that Science should be used to better the world. Theodore attended University and achieved the Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree. After graduation he accepted a position with Hughes Research Laboratories where he designed innovations to the ’maser’ before working on the development of an optical maser, or laser.

Astrologically (view chart) this is an apt example to begin with, because we have a Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Aries in the 8th house. As many of you know, astrologers have been writing about this conjunction over the last couple of months and the possibility of scientific advancements at this time.

Einstein also had a natal Jupiter-Uranus contact and the combination of these two planets puts an emphasis on truth, knowledge and freedom. It is a progressive energy and it can suggest in a natal chart, talent for science, astrology and other progressive areas. Jupiter-Uranus has high intuitive capabilities, and faith in human potential. Originality, rebellion and benefitting social movements best encapsulate the energy of this planetary pair. Bob Dylan also has this aspect, and it signifies abundant inventiveness and  a rebellious spirit. The rebellion aspect in Theodore was evidet when he went against the grain of  Scientists who ridiculed him for using ruby, a material ruled out by them. Theodore persevered in his work and was the first to build the laser.

The conjunction in Aries shows massive potential. Aries likes to be first, original and innovative. I detailed Jupiter in Aries yesterday, so check out this post (click to view). Maiman had Sun conjunct Pluto in Cancer in the 11th house. Pluto tends to become obsessive and transformational in the sphere it is placed. The eleventh house rules groups and clubs and it can also reflect jealousy and spite and he would mistrust and feel threatened in this by collective opinion, and his fellow "like-minded" colleagues could feel threatened by him.

His father had a massive influence on him and this is often observed with Sun-Pluto combinations. There is always a powerful relationship with the father, even after his death. The contact makes it incredibly difficult to sever ties psychically. The Sun-Pluto conjunction in Cancer shows a high amount of emotional investment in the 11th house sector. The Sun here shows a powerful need to be recognised by society and like-minded individuals (Scientists). The grand trine in the element of fire signifies powerful intuition and natural enthusiasm and optimism. Maiman lacks the element of Air. However, as seen with nuclear power man (view here) he doesn’t lack intelligence, he works intuitively and with great passion.

Nostradamus The Millenium & Beyond

Nostradamus Predictions

Nostradamus The Millennium and Beyond, Prophecies to 2016, is written by Peter Lorie and Liz Greene, first published in 1993. The book contains an Astrological preface that explains the astrology behind Nostradamus' predictions. The opening paragraph says:

"Prophecy is at the best of times a chancy business whether undertaken by a 20th century economist or a 16th century astrologer/clairvoyant. Polls that predict the outcome of presidential or parliamentary election are as liable to error as the apparently impenetrable outpourings of a Delphic oracle. But, despite its strangeness and allusiveness, prophetic vision has an ancient and honorable lineage. It was prophecy, after all - visionary and astrological - that predicted the birth of Christ. Such is the power and fascination of prophecy that we keep on trying, not only to find out who will be the next national leader, but, whether Nostradamus really did predict Hitler, AIDS, and the end of the world."

The allusive business of tapping into symbols for predictive purposes is questioned. The same symbol that may represent an earthquake on a literal level and bring down a building, may appear on the financial level shaking up the economy. Nostradamus didn't know about the outer planets and the author suggests that modern astrologers can add further insight and clarity to these future visions and offer a different perspective.

Besides his prophetic visions, Nostradamus, considered himself a Scientist and he regarded astrology/astronomy as the "celestial Science". According to records stored in the Library, he studied Greek Astrology. Some of his writings adhere to the fact that he had a dislike of amateur astrology, but it did not mean he disputed the power of the planets. Before embarking on his future path, he experienced one of his darkest times when working as a doctor trying to cure the Plague. He lost his wife and child to this deathly disease and his personal reputation was ruined. Nostradamus experienced a relatively difficult phase before beginning his work. However, today, he still stands as one of the most enduring prophets of our time, and perhaps this can be accredited to the long span of his predictions.

The authors of this book claim to offer startling new revelations behind the puzzling metaphors and verses that have confused interpreters for a millennium. Along with the aforementioned fundamental dilemma, many of his writings have been penned in french and Latin and so two different translations are brought forth. Nostradamus is described as having poetic leanings and a powerful sense of the symbolic. However, to add weight and complexity to deciphering his pictorial language, his work is not in chronological order, and therefore interpretation is even more challenging. Studies have concluded that Nostradamus assembles his readings into topics rather than dates. Religion, famine, earthquakes would all be assigned to the same text.

The transit of Pluto is examined through the signs of Scorpio and Sagittarius and the poisons and corruptions in life that are brought to the surface to allow the transformative process to begin. The astrological ages of Pisces and Aquarius are both discussed, with the Aquarian age beginning and overlapping with the Piscean age between 1950 and 2050, and the Aquarian age continuing from 2000 to 4000. Nostradamus would have been aware of the "great age" when forecasting. However, since he was unaware of the outer planets, Saturn would dominate the Aquarian age with its emphasis on scientific reason. The Jupiter "great year" under the Piscean rulership is symbolic of the philosophical and religious beliefs that dominated that time.

It is a fascinating book and perhaps chronicles the challenge of living in an age that is ruled by technology and the responsibility this carries, encapsulating the two rulers of the Aquarian age (Saturn & Uranus). Quote below:

Prometheus took fire from the gods and gave it to man. In effect, this is what was happening to mankind today. We are receiving the powers that were originally supposed to be allocated to God, and we are finding ourselves capable of exercising them. In areas such as genetic engineering, where scientists are able to create life, we are faced by moral and religious dilemmas that would have been settled by the church tied to a stake and set by fire. Do we dare to presume that we are able to make life, change life, create the universe around us? Nostradamus and the Aquarian age state very clearly that we are. "All is beneath his feet, like the seat of the heavens." Everything that was once in the realm of heaven is now the realm of mankind, bringing with it the same responsibilities.
Astrologically we are currently undergoing the evolving cardinal t-square of Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto. The past helps us to understand trends and developments. Prophecies in the astrological community are rife at this present time, due to massive planetary alignments shifting our world's energy. I do believe that prophets could be viewed as rationalists in the sense that what they "see coming" is discerned through common sense. However, the astrological shifts and the coinciding events on earth cannot be ignored as simply coincidence and a much larger patter is at work, involving human destiny.

Brooke Greenberg: An Eternal Baby

I had seen this little girl on television today, and wondered about her astrological chart. She looks absoloutly adorable in this photo (heart melts). The Doctors are saying she may hold the key to delaying the ageing process. Although according to what I have read they haven't found any special gene. Here is the story on Wikipedia:

"Brooke Greenberg, (age 16) is a girl from Reisterstown, Maryland who has remained physically and cognitively similar to a toddler, despite her increasing age. Greenberg is about 30 inches (76 cm) tall, weighs about 16 pounds (7.3 kg), and has an estimated mental age of 9 months to 1 year. Greenberg's doctors have termed her condition Syndrome X.She was born with anterior hip dislocation, a condition which caused her legs to be swiveled upwards, awkwardly, toward her shoulders; this was corrected surgically. Otherwise, Greenberg appeared to be a normal infant.

In her first six years, Greenberg went through a series of unexplained medical emergencies from which she recovered. She had seven perforated stomach ulcers. She also suffered a seizure. This was followed by what was later diagnosed as a stroke; weeks later, no damage was detected. At age five, Greenberg had a mass in her brain that caused her to sleep for 14 days. The doctors diagnosed the mass as a brain tumor. However, Greenberg later awoke, and physicians found no tumor present. Greenberg's doctor states that the source of her sudden illness remains a mystery".

The Astrology

Brooke has her Sun in exact conjunction to Neptune in Capricorn, and this sign rules the bones, teeth, and delay in development etc. Lots of children are born with these same aspects/signs, and don't suffer this condition, so I am only judging the chart without a birthtime. Neptune rules compassion, suffering and confusion and would explain why her condition has baffled Doctors. She was diagnosed as having a brain tumour after sleeping for 14 days, and when she awoke there was no tumour present. The Mysteriousness of her whole illness could be Neptune at work here, and things are never as straightforward as they appear to be when this planet is involved. Individual's with  the Sun in aspect to Neptune in their chart can appear at times spaced out, or even asleep. They often appear as if they are living in their own secluded world. There is also a delicacy in appearance in some Sun-Neptune natives and they can be highly susceptible to illness.

The Sun is also in exact conjunction with Uranus, and she is the focus of much scientific study (Uranus) even if the Doctors and those in authority are confused over her condition (Neptune in Capricorn). Uranus is straight out of science fiction, and he has very lofty ideas for the future. Brooke Greenberg is the new muse of the Scientific world. The triple conjunction of Sun-Uranus-Neptune is a powerful feature of this girl's chart. Mercury the planet of communication is also in Capricorn in wide conjunction to her Sun-Uranus-Neptune configuration. Brooke Greenberg's mental development is that of a 1 year old. In a chart with a child with normal development we would say she is very imaginative and original. However, she would need some mental pursuits to express these higher aspirations. You can you apply all this to her life development, but it would be read in a very different manner.

Little Brooke has Venus unaspected in the sign of Pisces unaspected. This symbolizes that she has a deep need to feel loved and special. Venus in Pisces attracts lots of sympathy and she is a well loved little girl. She is treated as a very special human being in the world. Venus is exalted in the sign of the Pisces, and symbolizes at it's most abstract level, love and compassion for everyone. Mars the planet of motivation and action is in the sign of Cancer (fall) opposite the triple conjunction (Sun, Uranus, Neptune). Often Mars-Neptune is another aspect that can develop a poor immune system or weakened body. With Mars in hard aspect to Uranus this shows us that she has a rebellious personality,  and she aims to be individualistic. There is a lot of originality in her chart for reasons we know, and her nervous system is heightened. The opposition involves the parental signs of Cancer and Capricorn. These two signs show how we get our needs met, and our emotions and nurturung instincts (Cancer) and the polarity to these character traits is self-sufficieny, maturity and growing up etc (Capricorn). It is a profound opposition considering she is an adult in a baby's body. The aspect of Sun-Mars may represent that strong sense of self she has developed.

Pluto, the planet of transformation, change and evolution is placed in it's own sign at the apex of a t-square with Chiron and Saturn. This difficult fixed configuration shows much soul strength is needed here to be born into a life with such insurmountable obstacles (Chiron-Saturn) concerning her place as an individual in society and of being different (Saturn in Aqua- Chir in Leo). With Pluto driving the t-square she is headed for fast transformation this lifetime.

Astrology - The Difficult Profession

I have deep respect for Astrologers who promote the awareness and validity of astrology all their lives. They tirelessly work to advance, update and bring this ancient knowledge into public awareness. Here are some inspirational quotes below.

Along with a strong belief in your own inner voice, you also need laser-like focus combined with unwavering determination. Larry Flynt

Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it. Buddha

If you believe in what you are doing, then let nothing hold you up in your work. Much of the best work of the world has been done against seeming impossibilities. The thing is to get the work done. Dale Carnegie

Success means having the courage, the determination, and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be. George Sheehan

All labour that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence. Martin Luther King Jr
If the collective rejects us, or metaphorically tries to burn us at the stake, we have got to come up with something to stop us feeling bad, inferior, and lonely. We may say to ourselves, "It doesn't matter because we know something they don't know. We are in the vanguard of the spiritual evolution of the planet. We are here to teach others." But maybe we are not so special. Maybe we are just humans lumbering along, bewildered by life like the rest, but we happen to be very fortunate in discovering an area of study which gives us a bit more insight into our dilemmas. Inflation creates its own isolation. We become like the downtrodden waiting for the Day of Judgment. The unevolved "scientific community" is oppressing and persecuting us. We can easily become evangelical, and I know some astrologers who are. We don't usually pontificate at Speakers Corner or wander up and down Leister Square with a sandwich-board. But we may participate in television programmes in which we are subjected to tests we cannot possibly hope to pass. Or we put ourselves in positions where we are humiliated by a Skeptical public or an unpleasant journalist or television presenter, in the hope to "convert" the public.

We may also let ourselves be drawn into arguments with somebody who says, "Prove to me that this rubbish works." For some unaccountable reason we stand there ad actually try to convince such discourteous twits that we are really nice, sane, decent people. We waste time and energy trying to persuade the collective that we are not inferior. We are not heretics; we are not charlatans; we are not gullible fools; we are not in league with the devil; and we are not mad. We expend enormous effort explaining oursleves to those who were never prepared to listen in the first place. By Liz Greene, The Astrologer, the Counsellor and the Priest

Enemies of Reason

I am quite addicted to watching Skeptics justify why "Sun sign" astrology doesn't work. Scientists are reluctant to take a closer look at this "pseudo" science, and only scratch on the surface when discussing Sun signs. To be honest, some skeptics have stretched their thinking beyond Sun signs, but the majority of "Scientists" still get out the old newspaper column out. According to Cosmic Citizen article (excellent blog) we mirror each other in some uncomfortable ways, and we view eachother as the enemy (hisses). Quote below from Cosmic Citzen:

This result was of course unacceptable to those who'd suggested that newspaper astrology columns should include health warnings. After some rather acrimonious debate, Rawlins resigned from CSICOP and wrote a long "Star Baby" article for the paranormal magazine Fate, accusing CSICOP of covering up results that appeared to support an astrological influence. The same month, CSICOP instituted a policy of not conducting research itself. The irony of all this was rather cosmic, and no doubt lost on the committee.... This, however, wasn't the only piece of irony operating in the vicinity of Cosmic Citizen. A prime, somewhat justified, complaint of the speaker was that CSI was an advocacy group that was more interested in propagating propaganda about 'Science' and 'Reason' than any genuine investigation of the facts. However, an outsider might say the same thing about a study day where only one side of a controversy was presented. This was picked up by Chris French, the token skeptic, who was invited to comment on the talk. He agreed that no-one came out of the "Star Baby" incident very well, but pointed out that many of the criticisms of extreme skepticism (inflexibility, selective presentation of facts, lack of interest in alternative points of veiw, etc.) could also be levelled at extreme 'Believers' in the paranormal. He compared this 'mirroring' effect with cold-war psychology, where American students saw Russian students as underhand, rotten, dishonest liars without the guts to see the truth and Russian students saw American students as underhand, rotten, dishonest liars without the guts to see the truth.

Enemies of Reason by Richard Dawkins:

Astrology -The Red Pill: The Saturn-Uranus Dilemma

We have all watched “The Matrix” by now, and the defining moment in the movie is when Neo decides which pill to take. If he takes the Blue pill he will remain in ignorance and stay enslaved, but if he takes the red pill he will learn the truth and enter into the Matrix, and understand how it all works. Using this analogy, the red pill is Astrology, and at some point all astrologers have been presented with the dilemma of the blue pill or the red pill. To choose astrology is a difficult choice; it is not easy believing in something which is radically opposed and regarded as superstitious nonesense. Most people discover Astrology and they feel enlightened; they feel a re-newed sense of purpose. But there are those out there who wish that they never took that damn red pill. Knowledge is power, and too much information can be overwhelming. Other similar themes between Astrology and "The Matrix"  - is the dilemma of free will. Astrologer's deal with the issue of free will vs fate everyday in the work they do. According to Greek Myth Prometheus brought 'enlightenment to mankind', but he suffered and was severely punished by Zeus, he was chained to a rock while an eagle would come everyday to eat his liver.

I obviously swallowed the damn red pill, and my mind has been awakened to a larger system - at first it was overwhelming to believe the planets "out there" had any relation with my own journey on earth. Astrology has the power to alter the course of human destiny, it is only through raised consciousness and mass enlightenment that we can alter our lives. This can be difficult to achieve when Religions, Science and Astronomy are condemning Astrology. However, the journey of Astrology is still an ongoing one, and on it's course it has faced many 'trials' and yet it is still here today, living and breathing and a testament to it's relavance.

Take the Blue Pill:

1. Ignorance is bliss.

2. Accept life with no questioning, live within the status qua, this is a much safer option than stepping outside the line. You have every right to believe in the reality you see with your own eyes. Who is to judge you?
3. Live in the known world, and in the worse case scenario let sceptics dictate your thinking. Let them make you feel a fool if you dare to think different.
4. Follow the Herd, and allow the powers that be to condition you. There is security in numbers.

Take the Red Pill:

1. Know there is a higher intelligence behind life.
2. Say goodbye to the known world, your mind is about to be awakened.
3. Be prepared for isolation and a sense of aloneness.
4. And be prepared to be opposed by minds frightened to take that step off the cliff.

Which Pill will you choose:
The Red Pill Popping People

Liz Greene: It depends on what you mean by "real." The zodiac doesn’t exist in concrete terms. It is the apparent path of the Sun around the Earth, which we have divided into twelve segments; each segment is assigned an image and a set of meanings and behaviour patterns. But the zodiac doesn’t exist in the sense that there are animals floating out there. So, on one level, the whole system is not real. This table we’re sitting at now is the kind of thing that we define as real. If you take reality as something subtler, and you approach reality as being the connections, links, resonances, or correspondences between things, then, yes, these patterns are real. But there is no way that they can be measured in a quantifiable sense, according to instruments of so-called reality. When you ask me that, the whole problem is that I don’t know what you mean by real. Or, rather, I do know what you mean, but if Richard Dawkins asked, "Is it real?" he would mean something quite different by "real" than I do.

Nick Campion: I was using "real" in the Richard Dawkins sense.

Liz Greene: In that sense, no, astrology is not real. This doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist or that it is not valid, but in his sense, no, I don’t think astrology is real. I believe there is an objective patterning or interconnectedness or unity of some kind or a set of resonances. You can use any phrase you like, whether it is mystical or hermetic or any other language you fancy. And it does exist outside us. It’s not just in the perceptions of astrologers.

Astrology is just a finger pointing at reality. ~Steven Forrest. All anyone can see in a birthchart are tendencies that will become facts if he does not do something to alter them. ~Isabel Hickey

The Blue Pill Popping People...

Carl Sagan coined the phrase that "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." What this means in practice is that if a claim is not very strange or extraordinary when compared to what we already know about the world, then not a lot of evidence is needed in order to accept the claim as likely to be accurate. On the other hand, when a claim very specifically contradicts things which we already know about the world, then we would need quite a lot of evidence in order to accept it. Why? Because if this claim is accurate, then a lot of other beliefs which we take for granted cannot be accurate. If those beliefs are well-supported by experiments and observation, then the new and contradictory claim qualifies as "extraordinary" and should only be accepted when the evidence for it outweighs the evidence we currently possess against it. Astrology is a perfect example of a field characterized by extraordinary claims. If distant objects in space are able to influence the character and lives of human beings to the degree alleged, then fundamental principles of physics, biology and chemistry which we already take for granted cannot be accurate. This would be extraordinary. Therefore, quite a lot of very high-quality evidence is required before the claims of astrology could possibly be accepted. The lack of such evidence, even after millennia of research, indicates that the field is not a science but rather a pseudoscience. Atheism. com

As a predictor of the future, astrology just does not work either. Many studies have been made, and the results show that it is no more accurate than chance would have it. Astrology is deceptive that it takes away our free will and gives it to the motion of the planets. Astrology is a relic of past ignorance. It is bad to keep believing in stuff that is not logical and does not work. If it really were true astrologers rake in the money by playing the markets and would not waste time doing people's charts. Sorry, personalities develop from many variables and the location where you born and the stars and planet locations have nothing to do with it. Deeper Mind.com
