Neptune in 2nd House
Neptune in the 2nd house is one of the most difficult combinations. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you will “suffer” from misfortune and never materialize money. Its just that it is difficult to combine a ’fixed’ earth house with a planet that is least attached to personal possessions. Neptune lacks the ability to sustain itself in the martial world. The 2nd house rules personal finances, income, self-worth and the capacity to sustain ourselves. It is also signifies personal assets and often points towards the social background. The 2nd house rules talents, abilities and physical awareness. Neptune signifies the erosion of boundaries, merging, longings, imagination, idealism and confusion. Wherever Neptune is found in the chart is where we identify with the victim/savoir archetype. Neptune’s house is where we feel our most compassionate and sensitive. It’s also where we long to escape from the mundane responsibilities of life.
Neptune in the 2nd house may signify that there is impracticality, confusion and chaos around resources. It may represent the fantasy and longing for money so that you can live out your dreams. You do have to be careful of get rich quick schemes and being swept away by fraudulent people who promise you an “easy way out” and money “sacrificed” on your part; with rewards that are far “higher”. Usually these types of people are imaginative and can manipulate and play on personal weaknesses (Neptune in 2nd) around resources. The same can be said for having natal Jupiter in the 2nd house and grandiose possibilities of earning mass amounts of money can be appealing. Although Jupiterians do sometimes have a good nose for finding those opportunities long before anyone else has seen it. However both Jupiter and Neptune in the 2nd house still have to be highly discriminate around personal investments. Pluto in the 2nd house often shows security ripped away by force and Neptune shows finances slowly dissolving through a type of self-blindness regarding security and assets.
Neptune is the least realistic of all the planets and when placed in the second house of the natal chart, it may be extremely difficult to see clearly the “reality” of a financial situation. Lack of discrimination around finances can leave the door open to deceptive people and increase the risk of becoming a victim of others deception. Therefore “suffering” financial difficulties, but it may be the result of letting those bills and debts slide and refusing to see how much money is actually in the bank. Neptune longs to erase all boundaries and there is a compassionate and intrinsically sensitive side. In your material sphere there is often difficulty asserting independence and saying “no” to those who ask for help financially. Neptune in the 2nd house can give-up everything they own, and sometimes there is the belief that money and resources are the pathway to emotional closeness. Neptune hates separateness and you may merge your finances with others.
Sometimes there is great sympathy for those less fortunate and unable to cope materially, but this can sometimes be played upon by others that are deceptively convincing and ask for financial help too many times. Neptunian compassion may be allowing someone to drain your resources and allowing them to become overly-dependent. Likewise, other second house Neptune’s may depend on the financial resources of others, feeling helpless and unable to sustain himself, with his own talents and resources. Perhaps material wealth never materializes and money slips through fingers like water down a drain. Wherever Neptune is in the chart signifies where we can feel our most dissatisfied, helpless and dependent. Alternatively they may not feel attached to the material world. The career and the way that money is earned may be represented by Neptune, although it’s not always the case, and the way the individual "uses" finances is a powerful symbol. However, areas like art, music, dance and acting may appeal. Work that involves empathy and compassion for those less fortunate and giving away personal resources to help those in "greater need".
The most difficult task that often faces Neptune in the 2nd house is earning and sustaining themselves through personal talents and resources. You may need to erect stronger boundaries around personal worth. Property and belongings rarely fulfil the idealised vision of Neptunian dreams. Many Neptune in 2nd house individuals are born with a kind of non-attachment attitude which may unconsciously contribute to financial difficulty and “giving up” too much of their personal income. Neptunians can be left confused about why money is lost, misplaced, or even deceptively used by others. The task for Neptune in the 2nd house is to feel that true sense of autonomy within and feel sustained by imaginative and “non-material” resources and pay more attention to their material world without becoming its victim.
Bruce Willis has Neptune in the 2nd house square by a Jupiter-Uranus conjunction. Willis owns his own production company and several small businesses. He has also become the face of a vodka campaign in exchange for 3.3% ownership of the company. Some of his businesses are Neptunian based with acting and alcoholism, which are both ruled by Nebulous Neptune. Bruce and Demi had a lawsuit involving their nanny, which involved allegations of misappropriated funds and slander. Bruce Willis also settled a lawsuit with a friend who tried to extort $100, 000, claiming that he was overcome by greed and jealous of his success. However, there was apparently some “misunderstandings” (Neptune) and the matter was cleared up.
Tom Hanks also has Neptune in the 2nd house and in school he became a born a gain Christian, gaining security. Hanks gives his money away to environmental causes (earth) and invests money in democratic positions supportive of same sex marriage, he has Neptune (non-discrimination/ideals) in Libra (relationships). Coincidentally three of his movies have featured him stranded and lost at sea, in Splash, Castaway and Joe and the Volcanoes, and therefore losing his sense of physical security without possessions. Hanks has Venus trine Neptune which signifies that beautiful love story (Venus) between mermaid (Neptune) and man on dry land.
