Brittanee Drexel

Britanee Drexel astrology chart

The few cases where people do vanish there is a high occurrence of  Mars-Neptune contacts and other aspects too. It doesn't happen all the time, but I wondered about the significance of this aspect in the horoscope. It's an aspect that shows up in Brittanee's chart, she is the missing teen, that still has not been located. Here are some quotes on Mars-Neptune and the Britanee Drexel case to follow.

"With Mars in aspect to Neptune, Neptune wants to come through Mars. So, when people with this aspect want to assert themselves, they should do it with sensitivity, refinement, and artistic flair. In some cases, this with difficult Mars-Neptune aspects appear to be taken over by external forces which compel them to act in a certain way. For instance, if there is a lot of anger in the atmosphere that is not being expressed, it may be the person with Mars in aspect to Neptune who ends up acting it out. Neptune acts as a psychic vacuum cleaner, picking up the nature of whatever planet it aspects from the atmosphere. I know people with Mars conjunct or square Neptune who occasionally act strangely out of character, or even "wacky," as if something has overtaken them.

I do worry about people abnegating personal responsibility. I'm thinking of the Nazi war criminals who proclaimed their innocence because a higher authority made them do it. Sometimes people with Mars-Neptune aspects seduce other people to seduce them. They want to do something but are guilty about it and are afraid to admit it to themselves. Accordingly, they set up a situation in which someone else then coerces, forces and pleads with them to do that thing they are afraid of admitting they want to do. You know what I mean- it's the "I did it because I was drunk syndrome", or "I did it because the other person need me do it" or "I did it for Jesus." - Dynamics of the Unconscious by Liz Greene and Howard Sasportas.

"One can easily become involved in scandal or trouble resulting from fraud or racketeering by unprincipled agents. Stay clear of chance taking, gambling, alcohol, drugs, gas or anesthetics; this is no time for surgery and be extra cautious of food poisoning and bad drinking water." Astrologers Notebook, May Elsnau.

"In regard to the external life, he may be brought in contact with the objectionable sides of life - indeed, it is certain that this will Be the case. For example, unscrupulous money lenders, cheats, share pushers, persons addicted to sexual irregularities, drug takers or vendors, coarse minded and foul mouthed persons, bullies, dishonest bankrupts, drunkards and so forth. It's necessary for the individual to find outlets for his imagination and to learn to let reason control this faculty, not only in somethings but in all. The effect on the health is through worry, diseases of imagination, or through poisons or bad water. I believe there is some peril to be apprehended from animals and from treacherous and brutal human beings. Neither of these dangers will be great unless some other serious afflictions occur." The Astrological Aspect, Charles Carter.

The Britanee Drexel Story

Brittanee went on a trip to Myrtle beach while she was on spring break with friends but acted in secret (Mars-Neptune) and her parents were unaware of the trip.

Brittanee had asked to go on the trip during her spring break from school with a group of older teens and young adults, but Dawn Drexel said no, sparking a fight between the mother and daughter. "I just told her 'No, I don't like the idea,'" Drexel said. "I didn't know the people she was going with." And, Drexel said, she didn't like the idea of her teenage daughter driving down to Myrtle Beach without a parent in tow. Brittanee, she said, stormed off to a friend's house, saying she needed to cool down. She apparently defied her mother and went with her friends anyway. Diagnosed with depression, Brittanee had recently been put on anti-depressant medication after the stress of family problems, including the divorce of her mother and stepfather, became too much for her to deal with on her own.

The house, Drexel said, was in foreclosure and Brittanee was protective of her younger brother and sister, wanting to make sure they were all right. Though the anti-depressents were prescribed only recently, Drexel said they were told they could take about a month to build up in her system. "I really don't know what state of mind she's in right now," she said. One of the last people to see Brittanee was her friend Peter Broswick, one of the Rochester men who Brittanee visited at the Bluewater Resort Saturday night. According to the police report, two of the men told police she stayed only for about 10 minutes and left to return some clothing to another friend.

Knipes told ABCNews.com that the men, including Broswick, checked out of their hotel between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. that night and drove back to Rochester. "Sinister? I don't know," he said, pointing out that Rochester is a 16-hour drive from Myrtle Beach and the men may have had school or jobs they needed to get back to. The others, according to a police report, told detectives that they had only met Brittanee, through Broswick, the night before at a night club. None of them, he said, are considered persons of interest at this time.

The Astrology of a Missing Teen

Brittanee appeared to be in an emotionally troubled state at the time of her disappearance and I am not sure if these men she was travelling with are completely innocent. Astrology can't make a judgement on who did what and where and how. However, the whole thing reeks of natal Mars square Neptune. Astrologically Brittanee is a powerful Librian and she can get along well with the opposite sex. The teenager is extremely pretty and Britanee likes to take care of her appearance, spend time on hair and make-up. Libra is a social sign, that needs to please and create harmony around them, and Librians don't deal well with dis-harmony. The young teen wasn't handling the break up of her parents marriage well, and she really does need harmony in her environment and for people to at least "appear" to be getting along. Sun (individuality) square Uranus (breaking rules) shows a rebellious nature and explains why she went off on spring break against her parents wishes, it can also show her step (Uranus) father (Sun).

Neptune (confusion and dissolution) is exactly conjunct the North Node in Capricorn, along with Mars in Libra square Neptune. Brittanee has a cardinal nature, and she likes to take action, but there is some disharmony between relating harmoniously (Libra) and authority and control (Capricorn). Brittanee has Mars (aggression) square Saturn (control) and this heightens the danger of violence from men, as Mars also rules the male principle. Mars and Saturn are called the lesser (Mars) and greater (Saturn) malefics in traditional astrology. In modern astrology we hardly use the term, but we understand the difficulty some planetary aspects pose to one another. We need to keep grounded in these type of interpretations, thousands of women/men have these type of combinations and many were born the same day as Brittanee and won't meet the same fate.

At the time she disappeared transiting Jupiter trined Mars (tight) and squared Pluto. Transiting Neptune was trine Saturn and Mars. Transiting Pluto trined Brittanee's natal Venus-Jupiter conjunction in Virgo. Transiting Pluto was also conjunct Uranus. However, until she is found we may not know what happened. I do question how much planetary energy around the individual unravels some of this mystery. I think most astrologers and non-astrologers, agree that going on holiday with men is not a good idea for any teenager. The easy Neptune energy in her horoscope at the time of her disappearance is setting off Britanee's natal Mars square Saturn. We can all "guess" but the facts are still unclear. I would like astrology to be advanced enough to give clearer and definitive answers, but we only work with symbols.

Madeline Murray O'Hair: Atheist

Madeline Murray Astrology

Back Story: Madeline O'Hair, was an American atheist, author, social worker and activist, and as the leading spokesperson against God and religion she earned herself the title as one of the most hated women in America. Through legal battles prayer in school was outlawed by the Supreme court.

Early Childhood: Madeleine's father was the owner of a construction company, until the business crashed, and her seamstress mother, after learning she was pregnant with Madeline, tried to throw herself out of a window trying to abort the pregnancy.

" It was in Hawaii that O'Hair fell in love with married Army officer William J. Murray, Jr., a wealthy Roman Catholic. When she found herself pregnant by Murray several months later, he refused to admit paternity alluding to the fact that his devotion to the church would never permit him to divorce his wife. Noting Murray's family wealth, an enraged O'Hair sued for child support and took his name for herself and her illegitimate son.

Returning to the mainland distraught and pregnant, O'Hair divorced Roth and promptly made Roman Catholicism the target of her considerable rage. At the bull's-eye of this target was the Pope himself, personally responsible for preventing her lover from marrying her. Shortly after giving birth to her son, O'Hair assumed the position of a deranged Scarlet O'Hara during a thunderstorm challenging God that, if such a thing as "God" existed, it should strike both her and her child dead with a bolt of lightning." She interpreted their unscathed survival as a sign that "God does not exist, or he would have taken up the challenge....I've proved irrefutably that God does not exist." Source.

Madeline has had quite a dramatic life crusading against religion, God, along with her many organisations and the laundering of money. When her health declined and the lawsuits mounted, she disappeared on an "extended" vacation with $500,000 of her organisations money. Madeline kept up some communication with former employees, but this too faded.

And then ......

Physically Missing/Discovery of Bones

"After she vanished in 1995 with a son and a granddaughter and a half million dollars in gold coins, a former member of the O'Hair Organization mentioned that "death threats were as regular as rain. " While there were many theories, there were no clues; the three were never found. Speculation ran rife as to their whereabouts, with New Zealand being a strong possibility for the location of their exile, coupled with theories held by the IRS and her oldest son that the trio met with foul play and were murdered.

On 3/24/1999, David Roland Waters, 52, was arrested on weapons charges, under suspicion for being involved in the disappearance. A former office manager for O'Hair, he served time for a murder conviction in 1965 and is presently on probation for skimming $54,000 from the O'Hair organization. Prior to Waters' trial, on 1/28/2001, investigators unearthed the bones of dismembered body parts at a ranch, Cape Wood, Texas, believed to be those of O'Hair, her son Jon Garth Murray and the granddaughter she adopted, Robin Murray O'Hair. On 3/15/2001, the identity of the grisly remains were confirmed. As part of a plea bargain, Waters led authorities to the gravesite."

Madeline Murray O'Hair's Natal Chart

Madeline's life was rarely peaceful and her life ended in murder and this a rather gruesome and grim end. In life, she faced controversy, death threats and strong reactions from the public. Madeline acted deceptively in all her financial dealings and did a disappearing act when she couldn't face up to her responsibilities. A look into her Astrology may offer us a more detailed look at the personality and challenges in O'Hairs chart. Madeline's horoscope is strong in fire, with the Sun exalted in Aries and Mars is in its own sign of Aries. The Sun and Mars are conjunct in the natal chart and she is rather like a triple Aries. The fighting spirit is powerful in her personality and crusades, competitiveness and beating all competition are all dominating motivations.

Individuality is an important goal for Aries, and the courage and motivation to fight for someone or something creates a feeling of potency. Madeline presented the archetypal warrior image of Aries. However, she was described as an arrogant and aggressive woman and there can be impulsiveness, impatience and recklessness. There may be signs of self-centeredness and riding roughshod over less challenging personalities. Usually the ram is pretty direct in their action, but Mars the ruler of Aries along with the Sun in Aries are in the 12th house (spirituality, deception, confusion). Mars is also SQUARE to Neptune. Therefore she may act misguided at times, and her anger may be unconscious and relates to family history (12th) and national race. The 12th house in astrology relates to our ancestors and "the skeletons in the closet" or the "ghosts from the past" that continue to haunt the individual and his twelfth house complexes. The 12th house in traditional texts is known as the house of self-undoing. You could say these complexes over aggression, assertion and rage can't always be explained "rationally".

Madeline's' fighting spirit embodies collective and religious urgings. A 12th Sun can sometimes indicate low self-esteem and a sense of not being recognised as an individual. "Early in life you may have received messages from your parents which led you to believe that you have no right to exist, that your personal desires are selfish and unimportant, and that you possess an innate badness or unworthiness for which you must atone. Perhaps nothing you did or said was considered good enough, or your parents were narcissistically absorbed in their own worlds, and provided little support for your fragile, developing ego." (Tracy Marks). This powerfully connects to her real life story, and the early rejection from her mother and feeling unwanted as a child when her mother tried to abort her. It's always fascinating reading the real story behind the astrology, and everyone has their own personal journey and story in the chart. Madeline's early beginnings in the womb, were not the most nurturing.

Mars in Aries in the 12th house is in a difficult position in the natal chart. Mars needs direction, identity, potency and the Piscean house is the reverse of all that (sign before Aries). Mars in this position of the chart can often show a powerful fighter, and I have seen many charts with 12th house planets and these perceived weaknesses turn out to be their greatest strengths. However, Mars here can also be self-defeatist in their actions, and Madeline was raging about a whole host of past emotions, sacrifice, transcendental experiences that could not be pinpointed. With Mars square Neptune this amplifies the con-fusion, and Neptune rules fusion, belonging and the collective soul. However, Mars rules individuality and fighting against dissolution and in-direction. Mars-Neptune is often found in the charts of spiritual and religious fighters and fighting for the underdogs in society (Social workers).

I don't think Mars-Neptune is the only aspect driving the activism in her chart and religious crusades. If you take a look at her Jupiter-Pluto conjunction, this woman does not take Jupiterian issues lightly. Jupiter rules the belief in life's meaning, ideals and the search for personal meaning. Jupiter rules hope, justice, goodness and under harsh aspects can rule fanaticism, exaggerated beliefs and intolerance. Pluto rules extremism, cruelty, devouring, healing, volcanic and obsessive natures. Pluto has an all or nothing approach to religion (Jupiter). With a Jupiter-Pluto contact there is always deep religious or political convictions or an intense pursuit of knowledge.

The interesting part, is that the CONJUNCTION plugs into Madeline's Moon in Libra. The need for justice, and the emphasis of the court case and legal battles (Libra) are all tied up with the Moon and also perhaps to the earlier experience of mother (Moon). A Moon-Pluto mother may have experienced trauma in her own life, some crisis, and she holds on to dark and powerful feelings which the child picks up. Jupiter inflates and looks for a sense of meaning to it all and it can also exaggerate emotions (OTT) to nurturing and emotional issues. All this extremism and exaggeration comes down through the mothers line of the family.

For anyone who wants to study charts and aspects there are more Jupiter-Pluto examples here And you will see from these example the large accumulation of money is also present. I would have looked at the transit chart for when Madeline went missing, but I am uncertain about the dates she disappeared. Mars-Neptune is an aspect which sometimes relates to people going physically (Mars) missing (Neptune). Jupiter on Mars can also be present for abductions. Don't forget abductions are rare occurrences and any planetary aspect can manifest in multiple ways (adding astrological small print). I have astrological charts of missing people and abductions that you may want to check out too.

Celebrity Deaths: Nick Adenhart

nick adenhart

Nicholas James Adenhart (22) was an American right-handed Major League Baseball starting pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.  A graduate of Williamsport High School, Adenhart was highly touted as a high school prospect until an injury in his final game required Tommy John surgery. He was drafted by the Angels in the 14th round of the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft, and began playing in their minor league system after the surgery was a success. He spent three full years in the minor leagues before making his major league debut on May 1, 2008. After appearing in three games, Adenhart spent the rest of 2008 in the minor leagues developing his skills, and in 2009 he earned a spot in the Angels' starting rotation.

Just after pitching his first start of 2009, Adenhart was killed in a car accident by a drunk driver. Both the Angels and the Salt Lake Bees, for whom Adenhart played for in 2008, suspended their next games. There were many tributes to him over the course of the season, including his former teammates spraying champagne and beer on one of his jerseys after they clinched the 2009 American League West division championship.

Astrology -  Nick was born with the Sun in Virgo square Saturn, which shows someone who tries hard to prove himself. He was born with Mars conjunct Neptune in Capricorn. Mars rules sport, and Neptune rules glamour, and dreams about winning (Mars). Mars rules speed, action, direction and Neptune rules illusion, fogginess, passivity and confusion. It also rules sensitivity and imagination. Mars - Neptune may symbolize becoming the victim of other peoples aggression and violence and taking nebulous actions, and it is considered a passive/aggressive aspect.

The transits at the time of his death, show a constructive use of energy and achieving sporting goals at this time (Transiting Saturn trine natal Mars), this is when he earned his spot in the Angels. Some people assume leadership roles at this time and energy is often constructively used. T. Saturn opposite Jupiter shows career (Saturn) opportunity (Jupiter), but the transit is not always positive and can bring some difficulties around believing and having faith in oneself /others. Transiting Uranus conjuncts Jupiter in Pisces, and brings plenty of possibilities and opportunities that seem to fall in his lap. However, it triggered the natal Jupiter square Uranus in mutable signs, and reflects lack of judgement and unpredictable events. A restlessness in his nature and rebelliousness, and luck changing dramatically.

Transiting Uranus, is a planet frequently involved in accidents and it squares natal Uranus, this is a generational movement, and the younger generation with this transit are in a phase of freedom, independence and rebellion. Transiting Neptune opposed his Sun, and this aspect has occurred in the last three deaths I have looked at. The life direction can become cloudy and lost, and it may represent a glamorized self-image and yearning (Neptune) to be someone special (Sun). Transiting Pluto trined his natal Sun showing self-empowerment now, probably due to his new spot in sport. The most difficult configuration shows transiting Pluto (crisis, death, trauma,) conjunct his natal Mars-Neptune, describing his death (Pluto) by drunk (Neptune) driving (Mars). Another sad loss of a young life on the brink of a new career.

Colin Wilson: Mars conjunct Neptune

I was perusing through the different people who had Neptune in the 4th house, and I came across the natal chart of Colin Wilson. I read through some of his biography, and I thought he would be an interesting example. Colin Wilson is a professional writer, he first came to prominence as a philosopher and novelist. He wanted to apply for a University scholarship but his father wanted him to go to work and contribute to the family budget. His father worked in the boot and trade industry, and he worked as a barman at night to make ends meet. He became resentful because he had to support Colin for two more years. It was his son's ambition to become a Scientist at this time, but unable to train he started work in a factory to make ends meet. He found the work hard, dreary and repetitive, so when he returned home he would spend his evenings reading poetry for emotional release.

Astrologically Colin has Mars conjunct Neptune in Virgo in the 4th house, and this very potent conjunction expains why he often found himself in a state of discontent and why poetry provided his escape route and his solace. The need to stay in touch with the spiritual side of life is vitally important to him. He worked in a very repetitive job, and everyone knows this type of work can drag the spirit down. Although he didn't have to endure his factory work for too long and he found a laboratory job and felt a huge sense of release. He said that he had felt he had been let out of prison from the abyss of boredom in the factory job. Often natives with a Mars-Neptune contact can lose their sense of direction and they lose their sense of motivation.

And now my loss of interest in science meant I no longer had a future. It seemed that society had no place for people like me, people who had no desire to 'get on in life'. Sooner or later, the headmaster would find out that I had no interest in applied mathematics or analytical chemistry, and I would be without a job. And then I would go to the Labour Exchange and be offered a choice of a dozen or so jobs that I found equally repellent. As far as I could see, I was going to have to spend my whole life doing jobs I hated. I continued to find an escape in literature, spending my weekends soaking in poetry. But this only made it harder to go back to work on Monday morning. And the physics master who was my immediate boss was a weak and trivial-minded man, who soon realised that I was there under false pretenses, and took every opportunity to inflict petty humiliations.

He hated his routine work and felt angry at god for putting him there. He enjoyed writing and reading poetry and his journal writing was a powerful release for him. He felt angry because he had to do repetitive jobs day in and day out. He didn't want to play the game anymore, and decided to himself that he would take his own life. At this critical juncture in his life he said that he suddenly became two people.

I became two people. I was suddenly conscious of this teenage idiot called Colin Wilson, with his misery and frustration, and he seemed such a limited fool that I could not have cared less whether he killed himself or not. But if he killed himself, he would kill me too. For a moment I felt that I was standing beside him, and telling him that if he didn’t get rid of this habit of self-pity he would never amount to anything. It was also as if this ‘real me’ had said to the teenager: ‘Listen, you idiot, think how much you’d be losing’, and in that moment I glimpsed marvellous, immense richness of reality, extending to distant horizons. So I re-stoppered the bottle and went back to my analytical chemistry. I felt relaxed and light-hearted and totally in control of myself. This mood of strength lasted for two or three days, then gradually went away. But I no longer felt trapped and vulnerable.Forty years later, Maralyn Ferguson told me, as we walked by a lake in California, that she believed that everyone who achieves anything original in literature or philosophy has been at some point on the brink of suicide. I suspect that this is because anyone who has looked into this abyss achieves the separation of the real self from the inessential self, which is like being born.

It is surreal how Colin Wilson describes his fourth house conjunction with such accuracy. If you pick up any astrology book you will read that Mars-Neptune is on some kind of spiritual quest and that this contact often has a dislike for physical work. These are the spiritual warriors of the zodiac, and they are driven to seek the spiritual experience in life. Mars represents the independent act of separation from complete fusion and chaotic life (Neptune). Individuality or any act of self-affirmation does not exist in Neptune.

The Mars-Neptune aspect appears in the chart of a computer genius, he set up major companies involving technology (Uranus is at the apex of a t-square). Despite material success he felt there was still something missing, and he up and left his company and travelled abroad on his own spiritual quest, he did return, but it seems he needed a few months out of  his executive business life to find his direction.

Colin Wilson has expressed this potent conjunction in writing and he has published works on the strength (Mars) to dream (Neptune). He has the intuitive ability to tap into collective expression, and he motivates others by inspiration. Often Mars-Neptune hates to live a dreary life and often expression can be found in art, dance, writing, and healing, or any activity that combines the energy and motivation of Mars and the need for fusion, spirituality and collective sensitivity (Neptune).

Liz Greene in her phenomenal work: Neptune and the Quest for Redemption has this to say about Mars-Neptune:

For Mars-Neptune, aggression and desire cannot easily be directed outward into life, because of the fear of separation this invokes; it may seem better not to desire at all. Sexual disinterest and general apathy are common accompaniments to alcoholism and drug addiction. The death wish is obvious in these expressions, and so is the element of masochism; if one merely want s to exit the stage, one can find less painful and drawn out means. Mars-Neptune is also linked with sexual masochism, as well as it's reverse. The desire to inflict pain. The confusing medley of inverted desires, guilt, longing for fusion, rage, and impotence, reflects a powerful but thwarted identification with the redeemer-victim. It arises not from any intrinsic Mars-Neptune "evil", but from a personality which is too infantile to meet the challenge of expressing the myth in creative and life enhancing ways.

Colin Wilson described his own Mars-Neptune contact rather too well. Being a writer he can explain his inner life with precision. He can be highly romantic and idealistic, but there is always the danger of  being undiscriminating and unrealistic. He can have an active imagination, and like all Neptune contacts he will at times feel like the helpless victim. The aim is to join his strength, actions, and assertiveness (Mars) with his dream (Neptune).

Abduction

Pluto transiting our own planets is where we might experience the underworld, it could be through emotional crisis, or a time of vulnerability. We may experience being manipulated and controlled against our will. For example, Patty Hearst the daughter of millionaire Randolph Hearst was abducted from the home she shared with her fiancee. The abductors burst into her home, beat her partner and carried Hearst kicking and screaming to the getaway car. Patty has a Librian Moon placed in the 2nd house of security and transiting Pluto moved to conjunct her natal Moon in 2nd within a 3 degree orb. Her security was about to be seriously invaded. The criminal world mad an entrance into her life. Transiting Jupiter was also conjunct Venus (usually beneficial!!), and T. Jupiter squared her natal Mars in Sagittarius 4th.

In myth Zeus (Jupiter) abducted many women, and often in disguise. We often only associate Pluto with abduction but Zeus can be far worse in my opinion, you only have to look at the amount of abductions happening abroad(Jupiter rules long distance travel). Zeus played an instrumental part in the abduction of Persephone, he secretly aided his brother’s plan, and in one version of the tale,Zeus, planted the flower to lure his daughter to abduction, and as she bent down to pick up the beautiful flower the ground opened below with Hades riding in on his chariot drawn by black horses and abducting Persephone.

Pluto in Patty’s chart is placed in the hidden 12th house of Leo, and it is disposited by Sun in Pisces (dipositor Jupiter) which is also opposed Pluto (Jupiter-Pluto theme). An interchange of energy involving her life force (Sun).

The little girl Madeline McCann was abducted abroad on holiday with her parents, sadly she still hasn’t been found. Natally she has a Mars/Jupiter/Neptune configuration, and transiting Jupiter was moving through (Sagittarius) and was conjunct Madeline’s natal Pluto, at the time of the abduction. A movie called “Taken” archetypes abduction into the underworld of an innocent girl, it’s very similar to the Hades myth and the abduction of Persephone. The movie hams up on the childlike naivety of the teenage daughter abducted. The young daughter is overprotected by her father (it was the mother in mythology) and her father is a retired C.I.A officer - he understands the evil and corruption in the world. The daughter tells a few white lies to her parents and travels with her friend on holiday alone with no parental guidance. She is targeted by Albanians who abduct both the girls, and then drug them up to the eyeballs and have them working as prostitutes/sold to wealthy businessmen.
