Love for a Lifetime: Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi Synastry Part One

I haven't done much on love and astrology and I have a quite a few planets in the Librian house and in Pisces. Today I thought I would do a really nice post on the long standing marriage of Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi. As we all know Patrick lost his battle against Cancer this year, and he is deeply missed by us all. I have grown up watching Dirty Dancing and it is such a timeless and great film. Patrick and Lisa have been together for most of their lives and this is a rarity in Hollywood. Lets take a look at their synastry contacts and see what magic superglue contacts are present in their charts which indicate such a long committed partnership.

Swayze was married to Lisa Niemi from June 12, 1975 until his death. The couple first met in 1970 when Swayze was 18 years old. Niemi, 14 years old at the time, was taking dance lessons from Swayze's mother. Swayze and Niemi had no children.

Soon after their marriage, the couple moved to New York to pursue their dance careers until the late 1970s, whereupon they headed West. In addition to dancing and filmmaking, the couple ran a construction business and raised horses together.

She has lived on a five acre homestead near the Angeles National Forest since 1985, along with a "menagerie of dogs, prized Arabian horses and rodeo cattle." She also has a 20,000 acre ranch in New Mexico. In a 2008 interview, Swayze stated that Niemi was the inspiration for his 1987 hit song, "She's Like the Wind". Niemi is a licensed pilot and flew her husband to his cancer treatments before his death.

Patrick's Sun conjuncts Lisa's Jupiter in Leo, and this is such a positive contact for any couple this aspect enhances and expands the experience of the couple. Patrick's Sun in Leo is square Lisa's Saturn in Scorpio, these two have a few difficult aspects to Saturn, and this planet is often thought of as a malefic planet in relationships. However, it turns up frequently in long term relationships. Saturn is always willing to work hard at a relationship, the planet is exalted in Libra the sign of partnership. In this relationship Lisa is the controlling and "sober" partner she brings the reality checks home to her man. Lisa sees Patrick as the outgoing confident one, and she sometimes falls in his shadow. Patrick's Sun conjuncts Lisa's Pluto and this describes a very dark passionate and intense relationship. Lisa brings depth and immense feeling, and he shines the light on her intensity and obsession. When she is around Patrick it brings out her dark unconscious feminine power. This contact is very signifcant because they have both gone through a highly Plutonian relationship, he has battled for his life, and she has had to dig deep into her own powerful resources (Pluto). Natally Patrick has Sun conjunct Pluto and Lisa has Mars opposite Pluto these two are both survivors and have faced life changing experiences. The couple are on an evolutionary journey of growth and transformation.

Patrick's and Lisa's time together will have have been emotionally exhausting at times and they will have had their fair share of drama together - on and off camera! Through crisis these two learn more about eachother in one lifetime than most people will ever experience. This can be an emotional and sexually committed relationship. When Pluto is involved there is often a fated and destined feel to their meeting. Lisa tries to repress and deny this side of herself (Saturn in Scorpio). However, this same contact means that she is reliable and dependable through crisis. This relationship can have it's emotional storms but it can also be a powerful and healing relationship.

Patrick Swayze on his battle with Cancer:

Patricks's Moon in Leo is conjunct her Uranus and this symbolises an unpredictable element to their relationship. This aspect can bring excitement. Lisa is probably the more willful of the partnership. Considering both Uranus and Pluto touch on Patricks's personal planets. Uranus is an intellectual planet and Patrick has said that Lisa was the smartest chick he has ever met. He said he was mysteriously intrigued by Lisa but she acted as cool as ever! This could also be down to Lisa's natal Mars in Aquarius she is inventive, clever and original and she can fly planes too! Her Mars squares off with his emotionally intense Mars in Scorpio. Uranus in astrology rules detachment, freedom and coolness.
