Emotional Understanding: Moon Trines Synastry

I was looking at my synastry chart and I suddenly realized that I only have one Moon contact with my partner. The only lunar aspect we have is my Moon in Pisces which trines his Scorpio Ascendant. This contact between us means that I respond and understand who is becoming and I nurture his development. I emotionally support this part of his identity. I am most responsive to his approach to life and his style. He has told me he feels very comfortable being exposed around me (I won’t give all the sordid details) but this can mean sexually and emotionally he feels safe sharing his most private self with me. There is a level of comfort between us, although the Ascendant is a point in the natal chart and not a planet, and therefore it is only my Moon that responds to him and nurtures his Scorpion development.

The Moon represents the emotional feminine self. His identity is appealing to my Moon and I am more in touch with my own empathy, sensitivity, and understanding when I around him. There is accord, and the way he moves out into life and his emotional intensity and powerful magnetism receives a positive feeling response from my Moon in Pisces. If I had an Aquarian Moon squaring his Scorpio Ascendant it would be a different story, his intensity and depth would be uncomfortable for my Moon, and I wouldn’t respond to his style at all. However, it must be said that conflict can create greater growth between two people. In general the Moon in Aquarius is less than supportive. Air Moons relate mentally rather than emotionally and they tend to distance themselves from raw feelings. Therefore when Scorpio Asc expresses his instinctive and powerful emotions the Moon in Aquarius will respond indifferently.

Moon in Aquarius wouldn’t naturally embrace the way he approaches life. If he had Ascendant in Libra, it would be a different matter, both signs are air and approach life with less emotional intensity and they both relate socially to others. Moon in Aquarius can relate to Libra‘s values of equality and fairness and their need for nice and pleasant relating. Libra's light and airy style would receive a positive response from Moon in Aquarius. The Moon in Aquarius would nurture Libra's identity and development, and wouldn't feel threatened or uncomfortable with it. The inner emotional depths of my Piscean Moon help support the powerful emotions that are developing in Scorpio, he can expose himself emotionally and with raw honesty. I respond with understanding and this helps him feel comfortable in his appearance and his identity. His projected self is well received in our relationship.
