I once analysed the chart of a man who kicked his smoking habit for good, and he had transiting Saturn in a grand trine (trines are easy aspects) with his personal planets. Saturn represents discipline, perseverance and achievements. When Mariah left her manager husband she had transiting Pluto trine Sun. It was probably the start of her obsession with butterflies, which was really the beginning her metamorphosis and transformation, which reflects change on all levels, but a time when she could make the change comfortably (Pluto represents all transformational change). Mariah Carey  released a new album on her own for the first time, without her husbands influence, and she changed her self-image (Sun) completely, which was a massive change for her fans too. Tina Turner left her abusive husband under transiting Saturn trine Sun, showing the hands on the astrological clock pointed towards a time of new self-discipline. The Sun int he natal chart rules basic self-expression and core individuality and Saturn rules  time and taking responsibility, and of course self-sufficiency. Tina was achieving goals with ease, but she was struggling still, due to other aspects. Tina, also had Uranus conjunct I.C, and this was showing the inner freedom she was feeling inside, that was so liberating.

Actress Mischa Barton has been yo-yo dieting lately, the really skinny picture is from Feb 09 and the later photo was taken only a few months later. Mischa has been having transiting Jupiter square natal Mars. The planet of physical health, strength and exercise (Mars) is challenged by the planet of expansion (Jupiter). I had transiting Jupiter conjunct Mars in my 6th house, during my weight gain. The Mercurial house (6th) relates to the health of the body/mind and daily habits. Mischa's also had transiting Jupiter conjunct Jupiter, showing more growth. Perhaps all this is a reflection of her yo-yo dieting of late. 

Times of Achievement

You would all have to take a look at your own charts and look back at those times when you had excellent self-discipline, motivation, resolve and power to achieve what you wanted. I will leave you all with Mariah Carey's Butterfly, it's off the first album she released after her break up, and is symbolic of transiting Pluto trine Sun, astrologically this is an excellent time for growth and self-improvement....
